Electrtostatic Beam-Plasma Thruster

Electrostatic beam-plasma thruster utilizes beam of energetic electrons to generate the plasma from which ions are extracted and accelerated to generate the thrust.  The accelerated ions are neutralized by the electrons from the beam.
