COLLOQUIUM: Fluke: The Math and Myth of Coincidence
What is the connection between mathematical law and observed experience? When we look at coincidences mathematically, we find that the odds are far better than any of us would have thought. Probability asks: What are the chances? We answer with a number. But we also ask ourselves that same question when we encounter the strangest and most seemingly impossible coincidences. This talk will examine some seemingly improbable events that lead to question the most surprising moments in our lives.
