Event Description

ABSTRACT:

This talks overviews the impact of new technologies on cities and citizens, and discusses the need to refocus on the goals (sustainability, resilience, livability, and equity) rather than the tools (sensors, data, …) in our quest for improving urban life. The long historic links between cities and technology provides the basis for projecting future impacts, and lessons to avoid historic pitfalls and to better develop, use, and integrate innovations and technologies to chart intelligent pathways for our urban future.

We then focus specifically on the emerging urban mobility, and how electrification, automation, sharing and micro mobility are examples of the technological shocks the long term impacts of which remains uncertain.
