Open Discussion:  "The Future of CAMAC"  Wednesday, Jan. 23, at 10:30 AM in Chelsea Room A

 

The purpose is to initiate dialogue in the data acquisition and control community regarding 'survival techniques' as CAMAC infrastructures age, become obsolete or unsupported, and show their limitations in the light of newer technologies. The hope is that this dialogue would continue at future conferences and meetings.  Please see Dan Kellman of GA for further information. 

 

 

 

19th SOFE Awards Banquet- Wednesday, January 23 6:30-9:00 PM –

Chelsea Rooms

 

A cash bar will be available from 6:30-7:30.  Dinner will be served at 7:00.  The Fusion Technology Award will  be presented to this year’s recipient.  The South Philadelphia String Band will entertain us after dinner with a special performance by their Mummer’s Band.  The colorful and talented  Mummer’s bands are unique to the Philadelphia area and a traditional part of New Year’s Day  celebrations in this area!

 

SNOWMASS Town Meeting – Thursday, January 24 8:00-10:00 PM – Imperial Ballroom B

 

The Fusion Summer Study 2002 - a forum for the critical technical assessment of major next-steps in the fusion energy sciences program – is planned to be held in Snowmass, Colorado this coming July.  SNOWMASS will provide crucial community input to the long-range planning activities undertaken by the DOE and the FESAC.  Several working group leaders who are attending SOFE will give short overviews of activities planned by their groups during this Town Meeting, followed by open discussion.  Everyone is invited to attend!

 

Tour of the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory – Friday, January 25.

 

The tour includes a visit to the National Spherical Torus Experiment (NSTX) and, if activities permit, to the Tokamak Fusion Test Reactor (TFTR). The bus will leave Trump Plaza at 12:45 pm and will return to Trump Plaza at approximately 7:00 pm.  A light lunch will be provided on the bus.  (Please note: previous registration required .)
