Electrical Power Supply Applications Engineer
The Princeton University Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL), a world-renowned fusion energy research center under contract with the U.S. Department of Energy, is seeking the services of an Electrical Engineer with experience in the design, procurement, commissioning, and operation of large electrical power systems and associated equipment for use on experimental devices to study plasma physics.
The Successful candidate will possess a BSEE (advanced degree preferred) with at least 10 years of experience in the development and use of High Voltage and/or High Current power supplies along with monitoring, protection and isolations systems typical of power generating plants and large industrial facilities. Equipment will include multi-MW ACIDC converter systems and associated equipment such as high current cable and cable tray, DC bus, DC switchgear, and control and protection, as well as Motor Generator drive and excitations systems. In addition, activities will include the modification and commissioning of existing facilities in support of experimental project upgrades at PPPL.
The ability to interface effectively with a wide range of scientific and technical personnel and willingness to work on all aspects of a project are highly desirable, including the supervision of engineering subcontractors and oversight of equipment suppliers.
