Associate Research Physicist- Experimental
Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) has employment opportunities for a post-doctoral research position in experimental plasma physics. PPPL is a national laboratory operated for the United States Department of Energy (DoE) by Princeton University under Contract No. DE-AC02-09CH11466.
The duties associated with this position involve the development and application of incoherent and coherent laser diagnostics based on Rayleigh and Brillouin scattering for diagnosing nanoparticles in weakly ionized plasmas in a broad range of bulk gas pressures, including atmospheric pressure. Following the diagnostic development, the candidate will conduct a comprehensive experimental characterization of the plasmas with nanoparticles.
Candidates must have a Ph.D in Physics or equivalent within the last five years with strong experimental physics skills and hands-on optics and laser experience. Experience in both basic plasma physics and numerical methods are desirable. In addition, successful candidates should have the ability to work within a group/team environment while also being able to work independently, and have strong communication skills.
