Associate Research Physicist - Experimental
Position Summary: The successful candidate will be conducting a comprehensive experimental characterization of a partially ionized chemically reactive magnetized plasma for synthesis and processing of various nanomaterials. Measurements will be used to determine optimal conditions for plasma nanosynthesis and nanoscale material processing, and to compare with theoretical models and simulations of plasma and material processes.
Application of the optical emission spectroscopy, laser-induced fluorescence, electrostatic probes and mass spectroscopy to experimentally characterize magnetized plasma. Need to correlate results with ex-situ evaluation of nanomaterials.
Candidates must have a Ph.D in Physics or equivalent within the last five years with strong experimental physics skills and hands-on optics and laser experience. Experience in basic plasma physics and plasma processing are highly desirable. In addition, successful candidates should have the ability to work within a group/team environment while also being able to work independently, and have strong communication skills.
