Self-Aligning translation mechanism for laser beams

What is proposed is an effective way to eliminate backward scattered radiation from laser beam sumps. This scattered radiation, especially when in line of sight of signal beams in optical setups can contribute significantly to the background noise, thus effective decreasing the sensitivity in such setups. Therefore, a mechanism that allows for minimization of this backscattered radiation is needed and is not currently commercially available. The proposed method has been experimentally tested in PPPL labs and has given remarkable results in increasing the sensitivity of optical setups.
