Bio/Description

Dr. Jardin received a PhD in Astrophysical Sciences (plasma physics section) from Princeton University in 1976 at which time he joined the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory. He taught a graduate course at Princeton University, “Computational Methods in Plasma Physics”, for 25 years, and has published a textbook in 2010 with Taylor and Francis of the same name. He has been a Fellow of the American Physical Society since 1985. He is one of the U.S. Members of the ITPA in MHD, Disruptions, and Control. He has developed several computer codes widely used in the fusion community including JSOLVER, QSOLVER, TSC, and M3D-C1. He was the Head of the ARIES Physics team from the mid-90s to 2001. He has served on the poloidal-field design team for several experiments including S-1, BPX, TPX, FIRE, KSTAR, and ITER. He has served as the advisor to over a dozen Princeton PhD students
