The imaging schemes described in this invention disclosure eliminate astigmatic errors by the use of matched pairs of spherically bent crystals or reflectors and thereby enable undistorted, point-to-point imaging with almost arbitrarily large angles of incidence. Potential applications include the X-ray diagnosis of laser produced plasmas, imaging of biological samples, using the highly monochromatic radiation from synchrotron light sources, and EUV lithography.
