The primary novelty of this concept lies in the use of a coaxial structure for toroidal field conductors for application in a magnetic fusion energy device. The coaxial structure provides high rigidity without the use of insulators between conductors. This would permit the use of a multi-turn toroidal field coil in a high neutron fluence environment. A multi-turn system has intrinsically higher input resistance than a single turn structure, and is therefore a better impedance match to commonly available power supplies.
