When you arrive at the Security Gate you will identify yourself. If you have complete your pre-registration Visitor Authorization Form, the Security Guard will have your name on the Visitor List and you may be required to sign in. You will be given a temporary Visitor Badge at that time. The Visitor Badge is only good for that day Each day you will need to receive a new Visitor Badge unless your stay at PPPL is for more than 40 hours. In that case, you will receive a permanent PPPL Badge to use for the duration of your stay.
Visitor Parking is available at both the upper and lower parking lots. The Security Guard will direct you after you check in at the Guard Booth. Park only where there are Visitor Parking signs. All other parking is by permit only. A parking permit is issued only to those visitors who will be at the laboratory for more than 40 working hours. When you arrive at the Laboratory, please inform your PPPL Host that you are here. You will be provided with information regarding your office and other pertinent instructions pertaining to your visit.
After checking in with your PPPL Host, report to the Human Resources Department to complete necessary paperwork and to receive instruction for taking a General Employee Safety Training test and obtaining a PPPL ID badge.
General Employee Training (GET) must be completed. The GET exam must be passed with a score of 80% or better. To register, call the Office Of Certification and Training, on extension 2220.
When you are ready to take the exam, call the Training Office ext. 2220 and let them know you are ready to take the test. You may take the exam by attending a class or you may challenge the exam by taking the booklet, reading it over, and when you feel you are ready to take the exam go to the Office of Certification & Training (AD113, ext. 2220) and take the test.
Steps To Follow For Acquiring
A Photo I. D. Badge At PPPL:
After passing the GET exam, proceed to Emergency Preparedness to have your identification (ID) photo taken for your PPPL ID Badge. Emergency Preparedness is located on the second floor of the Firehouse beyond the lower parking lot. At this time you will receive a parking permit, if required. Badging hours are 9:00 to 11:00 am, and 1:30 to 3:00 PM daily.
A Card Reader Access Form must be completed when you arrive at PPPL. It is part of the process required to obtain a ID badge. Your PPPL Host will provide information on special training requirement, if any. Card Reader Access Forms can be downloaded through the web in MS Word 5.1 and PDF formats.
Incoming and Outgoing Mail Service:
The mail room is located on the first floor of the laboratory right next to the cafeteria. The mail is delivered once a day Ð in the AM or PM Ð depending on your office location. It is distributed by the secretary of that Division/Department into the mail slots for that location. Please request that a mail slot be made for you when you arrive.

For Federal Express Service, please call our Shipping Department, ext. 3572. Federal Express Mail is picked up each day by 12:00 Noon. After 12:00 Noon and until 2:30 PM, all mail must be hand delivered to Shipping. After 2:30 PM, Federal Express must be called and scheduled for after hours pickup.
To obtain a key to your office, desk, files, etc., please check with your PPPL Host or the Division/Department secretary.
