Essay Contest: A Scheme for Clean
Winners of the A Scheme for Clean Essay Contest were invited to PPPL to receive their awards on May 20th. The four winners came from local New Jersey schools and all expressed interest in contributing to the clean energy revolution. They were honored for all of their hard work, which included a rigorous peer review process.
While here, they were given a tour of the laboratory including a visit to the NSTX Control Room and the magnetic field coils of NCSX. As a special treat, Claire Gmachl, of Princeton University, discussed her work on quantum cascade lasers and how they can detect green house gases in the Earth’s atmosphere.
All of the winners were invited to tour Princeton Power Systems the following week where Marta Loc provided inspiration to us all about how exciting it is to be a woman working in the alternative energy sector.
