The Magnetic Reconnection Experiment

Scientists are studying magnetic reconnection -- the breaking apart and topological rearrangement of magnetic field lines in a plasma. One of the most fundamental processes of plasma physics, it has relevance to fusion science, as well as to the physics of the sun and the earth's magnetosphere.
